Health care laboratory technician

 

The Bachelor study takes three years and upon graduating from it, the graduates from attendance and combined study get the authorization to perform health-care job with the consent of the Czech Ministry of Health.

The main motive to implement this type of qualification study was to build an educational program comparable with European Union countries, to contribute to the implementation of the new conception of work in health care laboratories. The study respects also the relevant up-to-date standards issued by the Czech Ministry of Health.

The goal of the Bachelor study program of Health care laboratory technician is to educate workers with university qualification for independent work in clinical laboratories to perform work at high professional level. The education contents is focused on mastering analyses of biological material under use of up-to-date methodical procedures, instrumental and computer technology, particularly in the following laboratories: clinical biochemistry, hematology, immunology, blood transfusion, histology, microbiology and parasitology, cell and molecular genetics. The graduate from the discipline of Health care laboratory technician is qualified, after initial training, also for work in specialized clinical laboratories. Additionally to specially professionally focused subjects, the students also learn to communicate with parties ordering laboratory examinations at the level of basic biomedical terminology. The students are familiarized with the organization, management, ethics of laboratory work and the system of internal and external laboratory quality control.

The graduates will find employment in all types of health care laboratories, organizations producing diagnostic laboratory agents, in research and other laboratories.
