Midwife

 

The Bachelor study takes three years and upon graduating from it, the graduates get the authorization to perform health-care job with the consent of the Czech Ministry of Health. The main base to draw up the study plan consisted in the output knowledge and skills, so called framework competence criteria set by the directives and documents of the European Commission for the profession of midwife.

The graduates from this discipline will be able, based on the knowledge acquired in nursing, medicinal and humane sciences and skills acquired in practical clinical training, both to evaluate the current condition and bio-psycho-social needs of the woman and to respond adequately and to provide the woman with the necessary nursing care in periods of health, physiological pregnancy, physiological delivery and after delivery.

The graduates from the study will find employment in individual areas of the system of (primary, secondary and tertiary) care for the health of women, newborns, families and communities. The employment is possible within the changing structure of organization of health and social care services provided in governmental and non-governmental (ward and non-ward) facilities and institutions.

If an applicant without qualification for performance of health-care job of Midwife without professional supervision applies for combined form of study of the discipline of Midwife and is admitted to study after having successfully passed the entrance examination, the applicant will have to pass practical lessons in an extent of 1 700 hours during the study in order to acquire professional qualification.
