Protection of population with focus on chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear noxae and explosives

 

The Bachelor study takes three years. The Bachelor study discipline of Protection of population with focus on chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear noxae and explosives was created by transformation of the preceding discipline of Applied radiobiology and toxicology. The lessons take place in attendance and combined form. By graduating from them, the students will acquire the knowledge needed for the issues of crisis management with focus on extraordinary incidents and crisis situations, particularly in relation to chemical, biological, radiological and explosive noxae affecting both the human and the flora and fauna, including the possibilities of their detection and prevention. The subject composition is based on the above stated goal and divided into theoretical; economical-legal and safety; natural scientific and basic medical; specialized in relation to crisis planning; social and language subjects.

The lessons include, as integral part, the professional training aimed at two basic goals. The first goal is to familiarize the student with the basic mechanisms of organization of crisis management at the level of state administration and self-government, from preparation of plans to their provision and implementation to control activity. The second goal is to familiarize the student with the operation of individual components of the Integrated rescue system and with the operation of workplaces focused on detection of radiation, chemical or biological noxae. The acquired theoretical and practical pieces of knowledge, habits and experience will allow the graduate from this discipline to find broad employment. With regard to the knowledge from crisis planning and the mechanism of action of the potential noxae, the graduate is able to:

  • propose and assess the efficiency of the adequate safety measures both in public administration or in armed services and in industrial and agricultural businesses and in research facilities;
  • provide efficient pre-medical care;
  • participate in investigation of accidents and extraordinary situations and determine the level of their causes;
  • participate in the corresponding function in research and development of the relevant issue;
  • participate in teaching of students of higher professional schools and Bachelor study.
 

The graduate is able to find employment in functions of medium management segment:

  • in departments of crisis management of state bodies and bodies of territorial self-government units for the area of extraordinary events;
  • in the system of state administration;
  • in production plants, particularly in chemical industry;
  • within the Czech Army in chemical and engineer units and health care service, including participation in foreign missions;
  • within the Integrated rescue system.
 

The contents of the discipline corresponds to the concept of education in compliance with the reform of public administration, updated by the Safety council of the state in its Resolution No. 14 from November 16, 2004, and subsequently innovated by Resolution No. 32 from July 3, 2007.
